It has been QUITE some time; but I am still here. This video is the start of Winter Caterpillar Project. I searched my yard for friends and found Giant Swallowtail and Monarch caterpillars. Giant Swallowtail caterpillars love eating citrus plants. At younger instar they posses spikes; however, as they mature they look like bird droppings. I showcase a young instar, 2 medium and 3 chrysalises. I am curious on the status of a chrysalis (I will update if necesary). Giant Swallowtails overwinter as chrysalises. Most are familiar with the Monarch butterfly; I enjoy raising this butterfly too. The two Monarch chrysalises will eclose in about a week.
12/28/21 UPDATE
I have not forgotten about Mantis Care #17 - Mating. Expect another video before 2021 ends. Thank you all for the support this year; and I look forward to another year of bugs on YouTube!
