Part 1: The Campground

Lake Guntersville State Park is located in Guntersville, Alabama and provides a variety of ways to enjoy this beautiful area. Overnight options are camping, campground cabins, lakeside cottages, chalets, and the lodge. There's plenty to do here: Hiking, biking, water sports, wildlife viewing, zip lining, golf, horseback riding, enjoying the sweeping lake views, or just chilling by the campfire.

What we love about Lake Guntersville State Park:
1. The views - the views from Aubrey Carr Scenic Drive, the surrounding hills, and the sweeping water views of Lake Guntersvile.
2. Campsites provide adequate space. Many sites provide water views.
3. Sewer - Most sites have sewer.
4. Primitive sites - many sit right on the water.
5. Wildlife - There are herds of deer throughout the park. Expect to see deer right in the campground, while hiking a trail, or driving the Aubrey Carr Scenic Drive. There are other animals in the park. You can view emus, donkeys, and goats in a fenced area.
6. Dog walk opportunities abound - campground loops, trails, park road
7. Dog Park! Two large fenced in areas provide play space for dogs under 25 pounds and dogs over 25 pounds complete with a ramp to play on and table to jump up on.
8. Verizon service works.
9. Close to town: Groceries and restaurants
10. Restaurant located in the Lodge.

What we didn't love about Lake Guntersville State Park:
1. Sites are open with little privacy.
2. Many sites are unlevel.

Of course, the positives outweigh the negatives. We loved our site at G45 even though our living space was on the side away from the water. We got to say hello to those walking around the campground as they passed by our site. Also, we still enjoyed nice water views while sitting in our "yard".
