The Stearns & Foster Estate mattress is a 14″ hybrid mattress made of poly foam, memory foam, and pocketed coil base. There is a 6.0″ comfort layer and an 8.0″ support layer, which would seem to set the mattress up for success, but thickness isn’t everything with this mattress.

The Stearns & Foster Estate is available in three firmness levels — soft, medium-firm, firm. The soft and firm versions are available with a standard quilted cover or with a pillowtop design.

This mattress has deep sinkage and low levels of bounce. This can be appealing for a wide range of sleepers and the different firmness options will vary these results slightly.

In our performance tests, this mattress earned an overall score of 8.00, ranking the mattress in the bottom 17% of all mattresses tested to date. This is not where we want to see any mattress, but especially a mattress that sells at a luxury price.

The Stearns & Foster Estate is $2,399 for a queen-sized mattress, which is 72% more expensive than average. The materials felt low-quality during our tests and the performance tests backed up those view points. There are dozens of other hybrid mattresses with better performance than what we see here with the Estate Hybrid.
