Ashes of Love is a 2018 Chinese television series based on the novel Heavy Sweetness, Ash-like Frost by Dian Xian. It stars Yang Zi and Deng Lun in the lead roles. The series premiered on Jiangsu TV starting August 2, 2018.
The Floral Goddess gives birth to a daughter who she names Jin Mi. She shares with her fairy attendants that she is fearful that her daughter will suffer a great love trial within the first 10,000 years of her life. To keep her daughter safe and from meeting the same fate as herself, she does two things: first, she gives Jin Mi a magical pill to keep her from feeling and expressing romantic love; second, she forbids her attendants from divulging Jin Mi’s identity as the daughter of the Floral Goddess to anyone. The Floral Goddess then passes away, tearfully leaving her daughter in the care of the Floral Fairies.
Despite consuming the pill and the protection of the Floral Fairies, Jin Mi unwittingly becomes entangled in a love triangle involving two brothers, Fire God Xufeng and Night God Runyu, sons of the Heavenly Emperor. Outside forces push and pull the three to and from another, culminating at the wedding of Jin Mi and Runyu. During her and Runyu’s wedding ceremony, Jin Mi stabs Xufeng because she mistakenly believes he is the one who killed her father and stepmother. It is at this moment that the magical pill shatters, allowing Jin Mi to realize that she loves Xufeng. Runyu also successfully ascends the throne of the Heavenly Realm when his father dies.
Jin Mi does everything she can to bring Xufeng back to life, even giving up her ability to see color, but after doing so, finds that he treats her coldly. Xufeng becomes Demon King and continues to ignore her attempts to explain the truth and her romantic feelings for him, instead turning his attention to Suihe, who has desired to be his bride since they were young. Eventually, Suihe admits to killing Jin Mi’s father and stepmother after being confronted with evidence and is banished. Xufeng is tricked into marrying a spellbound Jin Mi but their love is revealed to be true. This invokes the wrath of Runyu, who brings a large army to force Jin Mi to come back with him and honor a marriage agreement between their fathers. A war breaks out.
Jin Mi, finally understanding her fate, sacrifices herself to end the war by jumping in the middle of the brothers’ powerful attacks. After her death, the two make amends and Xufeng encourages Runyu to remain Heavenly Emperor. Wishing to be reunited with Jin Mi, Xufeng leaves the Demon Realm and searches for her. Eventually, Jin Mi is reborn as a mortal and Xufeng finds her, intercepting her when she is about to marry someone else. She still has her memories from when she was a fairy but no longer can see color after giving it up for Xufeng’s revival. They become husband and wife and are shown to have a son, Tang Yue, who narrates the epilogue.

花神「梓芬」和水神「洛霖」的姻緣被天帝拆散，花神含恨而終，在臨終前誕下一女「 錦覓 」，因愛女有萬年情劫，於是便把斷情絕愛的「隕丹」給錦覓服下，並交給管理花界的長芳主，使用結界將錦覓保護在 水鏡 內。數百年後，天帝之子火神旭鳳在涅槃之時遭受偷襲，意外墜落花界水境之中，被錦覓餵食香蜜所救。為了報答救命之恩，火神旭鳳同意了錦覓請求，帶錦覓上天界，且用法術隱藏她的女子身份。且在天上結交了好友夜神潤玉與月下仙人。被「隕丹」斷情絕愛的花神之女錦覓，在遇到了真愛 - 天帝之子旭鳳的時候，卻渾然不知愛情為何物，因此笑料百出。但在女子身份揭曉後也引來喜歡旭鳳的鳥族首領「穗禾」嫉恨。
同時，潤玉的母親被天后、天帝害死，夜神潤玉為了替母報仇，謀劃爭奪天帝之位，即使早已愛上錦覓愛得不可自拔，卻不能停止利用她。誤導錦覓以為旭鳳殺了水神和風神，令錦覓在九霄雲殿上錯殺旭鳳。當錦覓因為誤會將旭鳳一刀斃命之時，才終於吐出「隕丹」衝破愛情的感知，為了尋回所愛，錦覓認為必須化解與旭鳳的誤會，解救已經因愛生恨，墮入魔道的魔尊旭鳳。然而一切已經太遲，錦覓在天魔兩界大戰之中，以身擋在旭鳳和潤玉中間，最終魂飛而幻化成了旭鳳眼中的一滴淚。旭鳳長久苦苦尋找不得，思及錦覓而落淚，終於錦覓在花界的幫助下得以重生，和旭鳳在人間歸隱生活。潤玉默默祝福，卻知道自己必將是永世孤獨的天帝。
