The American Classical Orchestra chamber players performed "La Musica Noturrna di Madrid" as the title piece for their October 2023 performance at the "Actors' Chapel" in midtown Manhattan as part of a Gotham Early Music Society (GEMS) concert series. This four-movement work by Luigi Boccherini (1743-1805) features several delightful and catchy melodies, some of which have been used in film and TV. Beginning with the unique combination of two cellos, two violins, and one viola for the first three movements, the piece takes a surprise turn by switching out the second cello part for a guitar player. Be sure to watch all the way through to see the guitar in the final "Ritirata – Maestoso, G. deest" movement. Do you like this music? Be sure to subscribed to be notified when new videos are posted.
