The Arkansas Traveler is one of my favorite tunes not only for its super catchy melody but also for the lyrics tell. I haven't practiced them enough to record a version with the lyrics (maybe next month!) but the story is a humorous dialog between a farmer and a city-dweller.
The farmer offers witty replies to the Travelers questions until finally the Traveler take a genuine interest in the farmer and they bond over a shared interest in the tune the farmer has been fiddling.
I first learned this tune from one of Pete Seeger's recordings, although I forget which one exactly...
