Major Shaitan Singh, the Param Vir Chakra awardee who led 120 soldiers of the 13 Kumaon Regiment in the legendary 1962 Battle of Rezang La, is the real-life inspiration behind Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming film 120 Bahadur. On 18 November 1962, at 16,000 feet in sub-zero Ladakh, Singh and his outnumbered company fought nearly 3,000 Chinese troops in one of history’s greatest last stands, holding their ground despite relentless artillery, freezing winds, and near-certain death. Their extraordinary courage, which prevented a deeper Chinese advance and became a defining moment of the Sino-Indian War, forms the emotional and heroic core of the film directed by Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai, set to release on 21 November 2025.
