When I was a freshman in high school this song (one of my all-time favorites) came on almost every morning on AM 95 KJR in Seattle while my dad would drive me to school. We would both snap our fingers and sing along mimicking the Temptations hand gestures as best we could, lol. Boy do I miss those times. What memories do you have hearing or dancing to this timeless classic?
Our Spotlight Dancers today are Ken Rubin, Sue Leafort, Sharon ? (who forgot her age in the heat of the moment), Dave Talmadge, Linda Hyatt and Andy Hyatt (brother and sister?).
Smokey Robinson and Ronnie White’s “My Girl” is the first #1 song for the Temptations and the first song to feature David Ruffin as the lead singer. The opening bass line was provided by James Jamerson and the signature guitar riff heard throughout the song was provided by Robert White, both of the Funk Brothers. “My Girl” peaked at #1 in March of 1965.
