This is something I wanted to do after watching many of the FMVs for the PS2 version of the film's video game tie-in.
So, while watching one of the FMVs, I was surprised to see an alternate, yet slightly extended version of the sort of iconic Crosstown Express scene in which an elderly ladybot replaced Fender's cue. At first, I thought it was a decision made by Chris Wedge to give Fender more screen time so he could interact with Rodney more. That is, until I came across a video by a Spanish YouTuber (who apparently uses the White Spy from Spy vs. Spy as its character) talking about the #ReleaseTheChrisWedgeCut trend by @untitledjunk03, from which I learned more about it, only to conclude just now that I can blame Fox for the changes, mostly due to the so-called "executive meddling," in which a Hollywood distributor would change your film so it could be a massive success, I would guess that Fox changed everything about the film, including having Fender have more screen time since Robin Williams got to voice the character, having Rodney be nicer (since I remember an eBay item of a trading card featuring a scene where Rodney actually confronts his hero after he told him to "give up"), and having as many celebrity voices as they can think of.
So yeah. This is my proof-of-concept on what the original director's cut version of this scene would've looked like. For the best quality, I used the film's Inside Look featurette and the FMVs from the PC version of the video game. Also, this is like a draft, so you'll see why the editing is not that great.
And yes, that was an early version of John Powell's score used in this video since he got to re-compose it after the "executive meddling." It is nicknamed "Town", in case you're wondering.
I hope you enjoy it!
