Exploring Gozo by Mountain Bike: Xaghra, Ramla Bay, St. Anthony's Battery & Beyond

Join me on an unforgettable mountain biking adventure through the beautiful island of Gozo, Malta!

We begin in the heart of Xaghra, cycling through the charming Pjazza Vittorja, home to the iconic Basilica of the Nativity of the Virgin Lady. From there, we head downhill to the stunning Ramla Bay, where I catch the early sun rays and ride across the red sand, feeling the cool sea breeze.

Next, we take a short uphill ride to explore the fascinating Tal-Mixta Cave in Nadur, offering breath-taking views over Ramla Bay. We then continue our journey to the peaceful Dahlet Qorrot, where you can admire the boathouses carved into the soft limestone along the shore.

The adventure takes us to Qala, where we tackle some off-road terrain on the way to the historic St. Anthony's Battery – an early 18th-century military outpost with spectacular coastal views. After exploring the battery, I ride through the village centre of Qala, past the picturesque St. Joseph's Church, and make my way down to Mgarr Harbour, the primary port of Gozo.

On the way back, we pass the remains of the ancient Santa Verna temple in Xaghra before finishing the ride at the scenic belvedere of Tas-Sellum, with its niche dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy, overlooking the Cittadella and a large majority of the island of Gozo.
