Malmbanan is celebrating it's 120th anniversary. The line will also recive ERTMS automatic train protection system.
As equiping museum locomotives- or any locomotives for that manner is expensive, an most museum locomotives won't be ERTMS compatable for a long time, Swedish railway museum in partnership with LKAB will run two loaded iron ore trains with SJ class R steam locomotive from 1910 and Dm3 electric locomotive from 1970s, last of which retired in 2013.
Also multiple other heritage trains were run, such as Da 888 electric locomotive hauled lunch trains to Abisko and free of charge passenger rides around lake Luossajärvi.
