Hyundai Kona: Characterless sh*tbox

When the Hyundai Kona Electric went on sale in 2018, it was a revolution costing just under £30,000 – excluding the £4500 grand plug-in car grant – and offering 180 miles of range. Not surprisingly it was a key player in the UK’s EV market and so to meet growing consumer demand it underwent a series of updates in 2021.

Fast forward to 2023 and second generation Kona Electric arrives. So what’s changed? There are two battery options offering up to a 319 mile range, increased cabin and boot space, a bold new look and lots of technology and new equipment. But with so much competition in the sub £35k bracket now, has Hyundai done enough to beat its electric SUV rivals?

Not fun to drive
