Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State Represented by his Deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of the $400 million rare earth and critical metals processing plant being established by Hasetins Commodities Limited in Uke, Karu LGA.
Delivering remarks on behalf of the administration, Dr. Akabe conveyed the Governor’s appreciation to the company for choosing Nasarawa State as the host of Africa’s largest 12,000-metric-tonne high-purity hybrid processing plant—the first of its kind in Nigeria—which will process strategic metals such as platinum, uranium, and chromium.
He described the project as a major economic opportunity for both the state and the nation, emphasizing the significance of rare earth minerals like tungsten, tin, coltan, and tantalum used in medical equipment, magnets, catalysts, and other advanced technologies. Dr. Akabe assured that Governor Sule’s administration will continue to guarantee security and provide a conducive environment for investors.
The Managing Director/CEO of Hasetins Commodities Limited, Prince Jidayi Ijudigal, stated that the company is spearheading a $400 million foreign direct investment to construct Africa’s largest rare earth and critical metals processing facility. He credited recent government reforms—such as the introduction of mining marshals and streamlined licensing processes—with boosting investor confidence. He also announced that the company will set up regional separation facilities and provide training and equipment to support artisanal miners.
The project is projected to create over 10,000 jobs, enhancing economic growth and positioning Nigeria as a significant player in the global critical minerals market.
