In this session, we move beyond simple point-to-point measuring and dive into optical drawing methods that lead to more accurate, confident results in drawing and painting. You’ll learn how and when to use a unit of measure, how the envelope technique can establish strong overall proportions, and how triangulation, angulation, cubing, subdivisions, and alignments work together to keep your drawing on track. We also explore pareidolia and other perception-based strategies that help artists “see” more accurately. This live demo explains why measuring alone is rarely enough and how to rely on trained observation when precision matters most. Viewers will practice eye-training exercises specifically designed to improve the ability to judge relative size and spatial relationships. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist looking to sharpen fundamentals, this session will boost your confidence and accuracy when dealing with proportions in any subject.
