Heavy rain, strong winds expected through weekend in first major fall storm

Those sunny, crisp fall days are officially gone in western Washington as the first major fall storm of the season is set to bring heavy rain and strong winds.

The atmospheric river system is expected to bring in 1-3 inches of rain. Atmospheric rivers are common in the Pacific Northwest, and as the name suggests, they are like rivers in the sky.
