After the passing of Mohammed Rafi Sahab, something changed forever inside his own home. While the world continued to celebrate his songs, his family stopped listening to them. Yes — the very voice that brought joy to millions became too painful to hear for those who loved him the most.

Rafi Sahab’s wife, Begum Bilquis Sahiba, could not bear to listen to his songs after his demise. Whenever his voice played, memories would overwhelm her, and grief would take over. Out of love and respect for their mother, the children made a silent decision — Rafi Sahab’s songs would no longer be played inside the house.

This emotional truth was later shared by Rafi Sahab’s daughter, Nasreen Sahiba, in media interactions, and also confirmed by his son, Shahid Rafi.

When Rafi Sahab was alive, he often returned home after recording new songs and lovingly gathered his children to make them listen. He would seat Begum Bilquis Sahiba beside him and sing one special song just for her — a song that held deep meaning and love. That moment reflected not just music, but pure companionship, affection, and respect between husband and wife.

One such song was extremely close to Rafi Sahab’s heart —
“Ek Tera Saath Humko Do Jahan Se Pyara Hai… Tu Hai Toh Har Sahara Hai…”

After his passing, life inside the house changed forever. Years passed — almost two decades — before the children slowly began attending public musical gatherings again. Yet, inside the home, Rafi Sahab’s songs remained silent.
