45 Min Intermediate Yoga Practice | Backbends, Shoulder Stretches & Arm Strength

This lower intensity intermediate level yoga practice is a great way to build more strength and improve flexibility through upper body so that deeper backbends become accessible and comfortable. We will start with a thorough shoulder warmup, followed by upper body strength drills, shoulder mobility exercises and shoulder stretches before we proceed with some backbend poses taking our attention into thoracic spine and opening deeper into the shoulders. We will finish this practice in a beautifully relaxing heart opening pose. I am sure that at the end of this practice you will notice that your posture improved and your mood became all about positive high energy vibes.

For this practice you will need a strap (that can be replaced by a scarf) and a set of blocks (or two books). Remember that back flexibility takes time and regular practice. So be mindful of every movement and stretch, let go of any goals and expectations and only go as deep into the pose as your body is willing to do it today. Your health should always remain your priority. You can repeat this yoga practice as often as it feels necessary for your body.
