The Italian Carcano 1891/38 Cavalry carbine, ugly to some but beautiful to others. A World War Two carbine we haven't really seen imported in mass since the 1960's. This one is directly from an Italian batch. These can be found all thorough out the surplus market for dirt cheap, but ammo is tough to get and expensive. Other issues like requiring a clip, variable condition, and desirability makes these carbines an unwanted milsurp, but very affordable. If ammo manufacturers can fulfill demand for these, then we may see them go up in value and become more desirable. With the war going on in Ukraine, I'm sure these companies are busy supplying ammo for that. Some smaller U.S. companies are probably fulfilling demand for other calibers.
Italy was one of the Axis powers that fought against the U.S. and allies in WW2. Though the Carcanos are not noted for being anything spectacular, they have their place in history (and in my collection).
