Homeless Encampment Clean-up in Venice

On Thursday, December 1, 2022, the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works sanitation workers, in collaboration with the Clean Harbors Hazardous Waste Management team, conducted a major clean-up at homeless encampments located at Hampton Drive and 3rd Street in Venice. The clean-up was done in an effort to improve the sanitation conditions of the area and to help address the growing homeless crisis in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Police Officers were onsite during the clean-up to ensure public safety. The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) also provided homeless outreach to connect unhoused individuals with available resources. The Los Angeles Department of Transportation provided traffic control to ensure the safety of both workers and passersby.

The sanitation workers donned white hazardous materials suits to safely dispose of hazardous materials and trash found in the area. A major clean-up was conducted on Hampton Drive, with spot cleaning done on Third Street. These clean-ups are conducted on a weekly basis in Venice as part of the city's ongoing efforts to address the homelessness crisis and improve the living conditions of unhoused individuals.
