Pioneer Gameplay on Arena with Auras
Match 1 - UW Control
Match 2 - Mono Black Discard
Match 3 - Grixis Control
I fired up Arena and rerolled a 750 gold quest so I decided to go for it and jam some Pioneer Auras! Comprised of mostly green and white spells this version is splashing blue for Saiba Cryptomancer, Curious Obsession, and sideboard cards like Unable to Scream. It wasn't until fairly recently that Arena got Gladecover Scout but once they added I went for the deck quick fast! Bogles is a fickle deck in that it is very draw dependent, but the London mulligan rule really helps with this play-style. You should really never keep an opener without a "Bogle" (Creature with Hexproof) or you will quickly realize that your deck potentially will do nothing and get run over. Notable inclusions are Light Paws Emporer's Voice which can get Hexproof by tutoring Alpha Authority and attaching it. The biggest boon to playing Auras right now is Light Paws tutoring up the best Aura for the situation at hand and the absolutely astonishingly powerful Sheltered By Ghosts. That card is absurd in how it can not only swing games around that seem unwinnable via Lifelink, but it even temporarily deals with hard to remove permanents like Fable of the Mirror Breaker or opposing planeswalkers like Liliana of the Veil! Some days it's not your day and you can't buy a win but the games were at least interesting with a lot of spells cast and important decisions. Them's the breaks as there are a lot of backbreaking cards you dont want to face. Namely edict effects which can keep the deck from going tall. The best way to play around them is play Cartouche of Solidarity on your creature and generate a token which can be sacrificed in place of. Sweepers can also get you if you can't get your creatures tall enough before the hammer gets dropped. Not even that will be enough versus premium edicts like Sheoldred's edict. The deck is a good choice if you expect a lot of cards like red based removal spells or tons Fatal push as it preys on decks that have a lot of targeted removal.
I'll try to play tight but I'm merely human and make mistakes!
