Nightspell - Darkness Spreads Around (ep, 2025) [raw epic black metal]

This week heralds a new EP of raw epic black metal from Nightspell, of Kyiv, Ukraine.

Early last year I posted his Forgotten Victims of the Ashen Soul EP which later appeared on tape through Antiq Records,, then followed up with the Darkwoods Enchantment EP.

Now, we get a new six-track foray into an intense world of old school black metal, wrought in bleak majesty and mysterious questing, most notably in the archaic Albionic lore-inspired Green Knight that has a rapacious echo of Satyricon ripping through it. The whole EP is excellent, like the two that came before, making for 25 minutes of ferocious atmospheric black metal; as it should be.

Released through the mighty Canti Eretici Productions in a limited edition full body UV-printed cassette, the album is available for preorder from tomorrow, September 12th. Digital format available now from the Nightspell bandcamp.
