CATRIONA GRAY WAS INSPIRED BY THIS TBOLI DESIGN - Dreamweavers of Lake Sebu

T'NALAK IS SPECIAL to the T'Boli tribe. Even Catriona Gray was inspired by the Dreamweavers' design at Lang Dulay Weaving Center in Lake Sebu, and the costume certainly helped her win the 2018 Miss Universe crown.

Lake Sebu is the other municipality with a large population of T'Boli people (T'Boli being the first), and has a lot more remaining handicrafts of various descriptions.

The lake itself is full of tilapia cages, a major source of income for the locals, and it is quite well developed for tourism - but it retains an element of its cultural pride.

I went to the Lang Dulay Weaving Center (and was the first visitor for 2 weeks!), saw their process, and Lang Sebulan, the new Master Weaver, played a special rendition of a Tboli song on brass gongs.

Then we ate tilapia for lunch (as you do) before heading over to the Seven Falls, a very famous attraction. They are truly beautiful and some of the best falls in the Philippines.

After this, we checked out our guide Junil's mini forest (that he planted himself), before heading down to the Lake for a sunset paddle.
