I use the Low Voltage Battery Alarm to alert me when the 12V SLA battery gets to 9V. This is very easy to build, Using an LM339 IC chip you're only using 5 terminals on it.
If you do ARES, CERT, partake in checkpoints during Marathons and are on battery power this unit will alert you when the voltage drops to you're setting.
