Jon is deep in a Coen Brothers binge and comes in hot with takes, both on the classics that still rip and the ones that do not hold up as well as their reputations. What starts as a filmography chat turns into a broader argument about fandom culture, including how The Big Lebowski fandom can weirdly make the movie harder to enjoy.
Then the guys road-test a future-episode format with a quick “Mount Rushmore” draft of Steven Spielberg’s best. Jon’s picks, plus what Mitch would immediately swap, turns into the kind of list debate that gets personal fast.
On the way back, things escalate into a full-on spoiler discussion of Zach Cregger’s Weapons (2025). Jon thinks it is one of the best movies of the year. Mitch thinks it was fine. From there, it becomes a scene-by-scene clash of praise vs critique, and a bigger question about whether we are overhyping decent movies because the bar has been on the floor.

Instead of making sequel or prequel movies 30 years later, maybe just make a video game or a comic book? It worked out well for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle recently.
Mitch cites a recent Halloween watch of the horror anthology Southbound (2015) as an example of how a film can do perspective switching narrative formats well.
Another recent release, Good Boy (2025), a horror movie told from a dog’s perspective, caught Mitch’s attention for its unique and clever use of framing and editing, and he’s happy to share some thoughts on it.
