So, is renouncing US citizenship a scam?

This question has been asked a lot lately, and it's time to address it head-on.

This topic will be of great interests for high earners out there because there is too much misinformation out there.

Besides, these "tricks" you hear about will cost you a lot of money and time.

There are several reasons why you would want to renounce your US citizenship, and it could be both financial or philosophical, or the mix of the two.

Things are simple - you are either a US citizen or you are not. Everything else you hear, escaping the IRS and such, is silliness and smokescreens.

If you want to detach from the IRS completely, the only way to do that is to renounce your US citizenship.

When you want to have your own set of rules and not respond to the US government, you have to leave your US nationality behind, it as simple as that.

Be cautious of people who preach about US renunciation, but have never done it, as that is a road to more trouble.
