Queen Creek Canyon on US Hwy 60 east of Superior Arizona is a beautiful drive. A few remnants of the historic Magma mine are visible from the highway. I took a closer look with my drone a few times between May and June '23. (Note: private property and off limits to anyone who is stuck on the ground. Plus, if you fell into one of these holes, you'd slowly die alone, regretting your decision to trespass. Stay out, stay alive.) There are some really cool surface excavations, subsidence zones, headframe & hoist house, etc. Those visible remains only "scratch the surface" of Magma's massive underground workings, which ran from 1880 (as Silver Queen) to 1996.
