Alright folks, tonight we take a look at the Gibson 50's J-45. What do I think of this guitar? I never thought I'd rag on a Gibson acoustic guitar, but they must be pushing guitars out the door at a fast rate these days, even in the custom shop, if this is any indication of what's coming out of there. Yes, I'm saddened by what I'm holding in my hands tonight. It is missing the low/warmth/punch that these 45's are known for. It sounds good, but I have much higher expectations from Gibson, as it relates to any J-45. Only if you've actually played a Gibson J-45 Standard would you understand why I say this. Those guitars are special, with a very special sound. This guitar will never be that guitar.
Had to come back and edit the description to say, I’m shocked at how great it records. It just doesn’t hit the mark with me while holding and playing it. That’s the first time that has ever happened!
