Why do I keep saying “new” in quotes?
This is a facelift model year
The JL has been out since the 2018 model year
And now 5 years later it gets an incredibly subtle update
But that’s kind of the way of the Wrangler - sticking to it’s roots
So what’s new outside
Well the grille is a little,ready? Shorter
Also it’s darker
And they’ve had to rework the cooling since smaller
And that’s basically it from the exterior
The grille is like the only major update for 2023
The winch
But I should mention that NOW you can spec this WARN winch from factory
WARN is one of teh most prolific brands of Winch out there
Much better than the shmittybilt
This one has an 8000 lb capacity
You always want like 1.5x your vehicle’s weight in a winch
$2000 option
The new grille was designed with this winch in mind
Antenna
Also they removed the long floppy antena
The antena is actually worked into the windshield
Which is Gorilla GLass btw
And still folds down onto these hood grommets

This is the 4XE, what does that mean?
It means it’s a plug in hybrid
It’s actually te best-selling PHEV on the market
40% of wrangler sales
It’s a 2.0T 4 cylinder
Very wheezy
But with the 2 electric motors
375 hp
470 lbft - same as V8 392
0-60 in 6 sec - not slow
Just sounds terrible
Just over 20 miles of EV range
Charging door on front driver fender
Plug emporia
Charged itself from dead in under 2.5 hours

Efficiency
You have 3 modes
In eSave mode you get 15-17 mpg depending on wind
In hybrid that goes up to whopping 20 or 21
But with a full battery and full tank you’re still going less than 300 miles
Towing
4XE gets a tow rating of 3500 lbs
That’s less than the V6 AND the 2.0T
That’s cuz this thing weighs over 5200 lbs
Can get up to 5000 lbs
But only with the V6 and auto transmission
And the Dana 44s
Wheels and tires
33 in BFG KO2 A/T tires
Wrapped around some kinda gross wheels
CANT get the 35 in Xtreme Recon package with the 4XE
Rubicon X things

The look here is still classic Jeep - they didnt change
But i love the Earl Gray paint

And it fits well with the blue 4XE accents everywhere

And the inteior, of course is black
You can get red, but only with the V8
But you still get blue 4XE accents all over in here too
Interior upgrades
Some of the changes they made for 24 cant be seen
They’ve not got side curtain airbags std
Not for sport trim tho
They did a lot to reduce NVH
But it’s still a Jeep and still louder than a bronco
And now you have power seat controls
Cluster
Still not full digital
Which of course you can get on the Bronco
Jeep said they didn’t want to overwhelm their customers
Really?
With a piece of tech that’s been around for a decade?

Jeep is known for their easter eggs
And there’s a bunch of Willys logos all over
On each wheel center cap
On the corner of the windshield
On the rear floor mat
On the shifter
But the carl control and DAC are NOT willys, seems like a miss
