For years I dreamed of hiking up to Baxter Peak but I wasn't sure if I was fit or ready. It's a long drive and a big commitment to make reservations four months ahead of time. Last year my plans were altered by a hiking injury so all I could do was sit in a canoe when I visited Baxter State Park. But this year was another chance and it worked out that I made it up there to the summit.
