We are for a popular government, says NPP chief Conrad Sangma in Manipur

President of the National People’s Party (NPP) and Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma, reaffirmed his party’s commitment to supporting pro-public and popular governance.

Sangma arrived in Imphal on October 9 for a two-day visit to the state. He was welcomed by NPP Manipur president and former Deputy Chief Minister Y. Joykumar Singh, NPP MLAs, and other party leaders at the Imphal International Airport.

Speaking to the media, Sangma emphasised the importance of restoring normalcy in Manipur. He said that a democratically elected and popular government is essential for ensuring stability and progress in the state.

The NPP chief acknowledged that the situation in Manipur has improved to some extent but stressed that much more needs to be done to achieve lasting peace and normalcy.

Sangma is also scheduled to visit Kangpokpi on Friday to meet leaders of various communities.

Meanwhile, over 27 MLAs of the state, including former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, have been camping since October 5 to press for the formation of a popular government in Manipur.
