Goguryeo (37 BCE- 668 AD)

Goguryeo (37 BCE- 668 AD) was one of the most famous kingdoms in the Korean peninsula. Although Shilla kingdom lasted about 900 years, Goguryeo had more influence in Korean history. The most powerful ruler of Korean history, Go Damdeok, famous as King Gwanggaeto the Great, was the 19th king of the dynasty, who occupied or subjugated all the surrounding countries and tribes.
Goguryeo had two famous capital cities, Gungnae and later Pyongyang.
It was destroyed in the joint offensive of Chinese Tang dynasty and Shilla in 668.
More than 200 years later, Both Korean peninsula and Manchuria were ruled by two kingdoms, Balhae and Goryeo, who considered themselves as the successors of Goguryeo.
