The incident has led to significant administrative action, including the suspension of an official. The victim's family has accused the local police of attempting a cover-up, claiming they were initially turned away when they mentioned a policeman's involvement. Reports indicate that the victim statement was delayed and she was reportedly prevented from returning home until her statement was recorded. The initial FIR was very brief only about six lines and omitted key details, including the applicability of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, which led to the suspension of an official. The victim's statement before a magistrate (under Section 164 CrPC) was delayed by about three days after the incident. According to available reports, the delay in recording the magistrate's statement appears linked to initial police negligence, failure to properly register the case under POCSO from the start, and procedural lapses that required corrections before proceeding to the court for the formal statement.
