Maharaja Nripendra Narayan Bhup Bahadur was a great king in the history of Cooch Behar. He was the Maharaja of Cooch Behar from 1862 to 1911. This great emperor of the Koch Dynasty is called the architect of modern Cooch Behar. He built the Cooch Behar Palace. In 1888, he established Victoria College, in 1881, he established Suniti Academy. Apart from this, the present Madan Mohan Temple was also built by the Maharaja. In 1993, he launched the Cooch Behar State Railway. Several historical structures of Cooch Behar were built by Maharaja Nripendra Narayan. This great king died on September 18, 1911. The history of Cooch Behar is incomplete without this Maharaja.
