Kopatchinskaja directs and plays Haydn's Farewell Symphony with the Karajan Academy

In December 2021, Grammy-winning Patricia Kopatchinskaja was invited to direct a concert at the Karajan Academy Berlin. This training ensemble consists of highly gifted and motivated students. At the end of their term, the best will get a contract with the Berlin Philharmonic.
Kopatchinskaja goes to the extremes of "Sturm und Drang" in the first movement, while in the famous last "farewell" movement the musicians leave one by one. Between some movements Kopatchinskaja with some students plays small cadenzas she invented for the occasion.
