The finest surviving Elizabethan townhouse in Britain, was built between 1576 and 1586 by Robert Wynn, whose initials appear throughout the house. Robert, the son of a local landowner, married Dorothy Griffith, and in 1570 bought land for his new townhouse on the High Street in Conwy. Unfortunately, Dorothy did not see the completion of the house, dying in 1586. Robert married again in 1588 to Dorothy Dymock, and they had 7 children. Robert died in 1598 and is buried in St.Mary's church in Conwy.
In 1993, the house was placed in the care of CADW, and after a 4 year period of restoration, was opened to the public in 1997, and it's rooms are furnished in accordance to an inventory of 1665.
