Race Day!! Part 4 of 4

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon – wow - what a blast! Definitely one of my favourite Marathons, one of the best organised, most generous and enormous fun!

The course is flat and fast, with an elevation gain of 210 ft (64 m). It starts and ends in Grant Park, and passes through 29 neighbourhoods, including Greektown, Little Italy, Pilsen (my favourite!!) and Chinatown with dancing dragons!
The marathon starts in 3 waves, Red, Blue, Orange, elites start at 7:30 AM. Lots (plenty!) of Porta-potties, porta-loos! Lots of space and very easy bag drop and collection.
Runners are supported by over 12,000 volunteers, including medical staff, and there are 20 aid stations, 20 turns, and 6 metal bridges!
The marathon attracts an estimated 1.7 million spectators each year – which can be insanely loud – which massively keeps you going!

The Finish is fabulous – plenty of refreshments and a generous goodie bag!
