Episode 7 of a multi-part series in which Paul McKeever designs and builds a Stratocaster-style "partscaster" that he calls his "Freedomcaster".
In Episode 7: Having installed the Vegatrem VT1 Ultra tremolo unit, attached the neck, and added a couple of E strings to guide pick-up placement, Paul discovers that the Fender LSR Roller Nut sits too deeply in the rout, with the result that the high E string touches (cannot clear) the first fret. The LSR instructions indicate that that is normal, and Fender includes metal shims to bring up the height of the nut. Paul installs shims.
