Santa's Choo Choo Holiday Scene Animated Christmas Train Decoration Running On G Scale Track.

This is a static animated Christmas Decoration from the 90s, it's called the Santa's Choo Choo Holiday Scene. The Decoration stopped working how it used to. The button on the base used to activate the loco's motion whilst the sound is being played. It's not working properly anymore, I thought why waste a perfectly good loco. I turned the locomotive into a proper working model train that can run on G Scale or Gauge 1 track. With a bit of engineering involved and care when taking the locomotive off the base and altering the wheels to fit the required gauge it is now abled to run on any 45mm tracks. After all that has been done I gave it a test run on my temporary track. It went well but then there was a problem with the gear. The gear was slipping and it was effecting it's performance and it was really noisy and annoying. I opened up the loco again to get to the gear. I noticed the gear has a separate piece. The sound the gear made was like a medicine bottle child proof safety lid. I glued the two pieces together to prevent them from slipping. While the glue was setting, I put everything back together again. I then re- tested it on the temporary track and was pleased that the noise was gone. I got out the camera and filmed to demonstrate a successful project. I also tested the locomotive running in the garden as shown in the video next. Now I pronounce it has passed and now in service and ready for upcoming special days. It will be making its first public appearance on the Christmas Steam Day event at the Abbey Pumping Station on 30th November 2025, admission charges may apply on their website. Link is below.
