Harvesters of dead ecologies;
Recyclers of splinters and pulp;
Manufacturers of sawdust for the preservation of ghosts.

LOCATION OF THE WOOD PILLAR: FIBER FIELDS
Towards the southern edge of the Pangea, running along the shores of the Great Syrup Sea there are great fields of blue flax. In these fields the wood piece holders toil upon the corpses of plant piece holders. Piles of sawdusts, as large hills, create an uneven and shifting topography. Small trees grow from the sawdust hills at angle, drooping sawdust covered vines towards the ground. There is a sound of carving, of saw upon wood, of snapping fibers, and calloused hands upon weathered chisels. The Pillar sits at the heart of these fields, jutting from a hill of sawdust, the dust itself flowing from the pillar. The tranquil waves of the Syrup Sea lap upon shores of white sands and sawdust. Flotsams of chisel scrapings drift in its tides.

Moving northwards, out of the Fiber Fields, the land turns to thick dry mangrove groves, nearly impenetrable but for the use of machete and torch. The mangroves stretch in fibrous masses into the sky creating canopies of woven branch and thorn. The failed creations of the wood piece holders often drift upon splintering limb into the mangroves to hide amongst the fibrous foliage. The number of such failed creations is without record.

The Guru: TAKIOBABA
At the base of the pillar is the greatest creation of any wood piece holder, the guru of the pillar, the wooden jaguar, Takiobaba. It is said that the first wood piece holder traveled to the heart of the Carnivore Swamps and found there a tree from which all life in that swamp grew. The tree was said to speak and was said to grow from the body of an unrotting but dead horse. The first wood piece holder gained a branch from this talking tree and brought it back to the Wood Pillar. There he toiled and carved into creation the first Menifesi, or as is more colloquially known: a “Wood-Ghost.” This was Takiobaba, a great jaguar with teeth of splinters, bended wood as joints, and chiseled eyes of polished grain. The first wood piece holder died and was buried in his sawdust, but Takiobaba remained. It lounges at the base of the pillar and will devour any seeker of a wood piece who’s artisanship is incapable of impressing the beast.

Relations:
Wood piece holders stay to their sawdust hills and toil on the fibers they have either acquired through quest or received. The main relations wood piece holders have with the wider pangea is the quest for more and more wood. Such quests obviously bring the wood piece holders into conflict with both fire and decay piece holders as both cause the destruction of wood. Many gifts of wood are made to wood piece holders and in particular, plant piece holders often will provide their bodies after death as wood for creation. Such creations from the wood of a plant piece holder form menifesi, wood ghosts, where the lingering spirit of the plant piece holder animates the construct their wood has formed. Such menifesis possess a strange sentience, bearing little resemblance to whomever they once were. They roam the world on stilted legs of articulated beams, drawing into sand symbols and marks that some say tell of the world after life, beyond the silver curtain of death. Occasionally, such a menifesi is produced with inept carpentry. Such a menifesi will leave the Fiber Fields and pass into the mangroves north of the fields. They can be heard by passerbyers of the mangrove speaking in fibrous tones from the depths of the grove.
