A Home Office team of about 65 civil servants is working to trace more than 53,000 migrants and 736 foreign offenders who are recorded as missing/absconded, The Sun reports.
The figures come from a leaked document shared with independent MP Rupert Lowe, who says the staffing level is far too low. The Home Office did not confirm the exact numbers, but said it uses multiple teams and partners (including police and international agencies) to trace people and take action, including arrest and detention, when new details are found.
