Here's a very rare video. It is a beautiful piece by The Jazz Crusaders called: "Free Sample." It is written by the band's keyboardist Joe Sample (obvious reference to him in the title). The tune is the 4th track on their late 1963 album "Heat Wave" originally released on Pacific Jazz Records. The song also appears on a 2-Record set released in 1973 on Blue Note Records. The compilation is called "Tough Talk." The audio you hear comes from my personal copy of that double album. I think this is one of the most delightful of The Jazz Crusaders' old tunes. I hope you enjoy it. As near as i can figure, This may be the only way to hear this tune on YouTube.
FOOTNOTE: The double record set "Tough Talk" contains previously released material. Blue Note Records was an affiliate of United Artists in the early 1970s. That makes this compilation similar to the United Artists'"Superpak" series for pop artists like Johnny Rivers and Cher. Anyway, enough of that. Happy Listening :)
