If you follow my channel you know I am all about saving you money by doing things yourself. I will admit, possibly this is not the best video on YouTube showing you how to complete your repair but at least I planted the seeds to make you think about saving $$ and repairing your Hot Water heater yourself.

Possibly your water heater is not this brand but you can easily replace parts yourself. The manufacturer may supply you with parts but you may have to pay shipping which can be better than having to buy parts. In my case, this was the most cost-effective solution for me.

First off: CUT OF ALL ELECTRIC POWER
If You have a bad heater element you will need this tool https://amzn.to/41nF4aL to remove it.

If you are unsure if your heater element is bad or not you can test it with one of these https://amzn.to/4bnxhym Set it for ohms and you should get a reading between 3 and 20 ohms depending on the element and manutacturer. I really like this one because it is automatic https://amzn.to/3F2Gznx and inexpensive and you can use it for other stuff around the house. If you get no reading by putting one probe on each screw terminal, it means the element is DEAD and needs replacing!

If you want to replace just the elements you need to find out how many watts each element is and replace it with a like wattage. Mine was 4500 watts top and bottom. you can replace it with elements you can buy at a Big Box Store or order here. The reason I put that one on the bottom was due to the bottom element comes on first. This element has the same 4500 watts but double the surface area so the water will heat faster.

My water heater used a specialized thermostat Part # 100309396 thermostat pcb assembly or on Amazon https://amzn.to/3XqMiKd. If you have a standard Water heater thermostat arrangement you could buy this https://amzn.to/3FbfFK0 which is just an upper and lower thermostat or this kit to do a total tune up https://amzn.to/3DhLArJ .
