Hey everyone, thank you for watching my cover of Replicant by Yorushika. I've been gone for a while. I had my last year of college and it really took up a lot of my time. I would spend a lot of time and energy into school that I didn't have a lot of motivation to make a video. To be honest, laziness was a big part of it, I have had another video in the works for almost a year by now. And because it is a music video and that means I have to get a lot of people together and organize everything, well I guess it makes it easier to push back. But I'm back now, and its time I start picking up steam again.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy my new cover!

Before I could come back I had to pick what song I wanted to use for this video. After a few different iterations, I decided to go with Replicant. I have a bold proclamation to make. Yorushika is my favorite band, on top of that, Replicant is absolutely my favorite song right now. I am 100% sure that by the end of the year its gonna be at least my top 3 listened to songs. Its a really special song to me, its catchy melodies, interesting harmony and instrumentation, and melancholic theme all work together to enchant me. As for the theme of the song, the way I see it is that its saying that our souls are just signals in our brains. And due to this, none of us can really be individuals. Suis sings about how values, memories, love and everything else is fake, or replicants. Some pretty sad and nihilistic thoughts. But that is contrasted by her also saying that our hearts and our words are the real things. At the end of the song, she says to express everything with words in order to fill in the blanks between our hearts and our soul. I see this as the conclusion to the song being that we have to express ourselves, say what we really mean to say. Only then can we connect our heart and your soul, one being real and the other being fake, only then can we truly understand ourselves and each other. But that's just what I think about it, definitely not the only way to interpret it. Also there's a lot about the song I didn't cover but I'm not good enough to analyze every line lol. So this is just a big picture kind of thing. In order to "replicate" the same feeling as the song, I never showed my face, to give this an impersonal vibe. I also used a wide angle lens, and a filter to give it a dreamy feeling.
