In this painted faux copper patinaed background, we use marbling techniques. The verdigris effect is done in green but you can use varied hues of greens and blues for a realistic look. Actual patinaed metal looks different than some of the faux finishes you see on flower pots. Through years of designing jewelry and metalsmithing, I remain mesmerized by the range of colors heated copper produces. Like a seashell that only sparkles in the water, those beautiful colors on heated copper change when the metal cools. I hope to try my hand at raku pottery some day!
Enjoy this beginner friendly demo! I hope it inspires you to give copper a place in your creative world!
