Photobiomodulation is a form of laser or light therapy, and it uses photons of light to stimulate the mitochondria. HOW DOES IT WORK?
PBM therapy will use light photons (or molecules of light) that come from either the red spectrum of light or the Near Infrared spectrum or the invisible spectrum of red light.

The red or near-infrared light penetrates the mitochondria of the cell. The mitochondria is known as the powerhouse of the cell because it’s the cell's energy factory that makes ATP. ATP is the fuel that powers all the functions of the cells including the nerve cells.

However, when nerve tissue is damaged, the production of ATP in the cell is impaired, which decreases the nerves’ ability to regenerate or produce new healthy nerve cells. The more ATP your mitochondria can produce the more rapidly the nerve cells will begin to regenerate and heal.
When the infrared light hits our nerve cells, they begin to produce more ATP energy to recharge the nerve cell, much like recharging a battery pack. When the nerve cell has a fully charged battery, so to speak, it can begin to heal itself very rapidly.
