Biography:
"There lies a concept somewhere out there known as a tulpa—no different than the imaginary friend who held your hand when you were an innocent child. A thought-form entity born solely from one's mind, or the mind of a collective of people. One may call tulpas as real as a human or a dog, while others slander them as simple group hallucinations—in other words, fear mongering. Whatever the case, this is one explanation—the more hopeful of the bunch—that some have grasped onto in order to explain the thing that resides within the forests.

Oakside Park was one of those forests; perhaps the thing favored it as it did many other places across the world where it appeared as nothing more than a thin black sliver among the trees. Having humble roots as a trade outpost at the foot of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta, Oakside Park and the surrounding areas had long been steeped in superstitious faith dating back to the earliest fur trade companies of North America. But these legends were often formed from various and often contradictory folktale derived from different cultures; because of this rumors would often be born from other rumors like infinitely divisible atoms.

At the turn of the 20th century the Matheson family moved to Oakside Park in search of a better life. They built themselves a firm homestead deep within the heart of the park. The matriarch Frieda often heard these various rumors for herself; even from her own children she heard accounts of a tall man watching over them while they were playing in the forests. It is perhaps marked by this curiosity, this knowledge, that the thing's presence became more pronounced. Some say rituals connecting to the Matheson family were conducted shortly afterwards, putting an eternal curse not just on the family but on the whole park.

It all seemed to result in the mysterious disappearance of Charlie Jr, son of Charles and Diane Matheson, decades later. His body was never found, nor was any cause ever given other than the police inferring that, because he had wandered too far into the woods from the picnic spot his parents had set up, he likely couldn't find his way back. The avoidable tragedy caused both parents to spiral into a deep depression, and Diane eventually left. Shortly thereafter the boy's father was found dead by suicide, bringing with the burden of whatever he may have known and held onto for so long. It was from that point in history onwards that the region was never the same.

Discussions of origin have faded over time as those who mingle in communities of conjecture have long since realized the fealty of such research. However, despite its vague nature its appearance throughout sightings and accounts has remained static: tall, suited, and wearing a pale and blank face. One could assume it wanted to blend amongst the trees better so it could observe humanity for whatever incomprehensible reason resides within it. But 'reason' didn't seem to matter to the thing. Did it wish to better see humanity, to learn our behaviors? Or maybe it already knows humans better than we do—who can say for certain?

Those who had the unfortunate fate of running into the slender man would disappear with the wind, and with them brought along the mere idea that they once existed. But there were those who were somehow even unluckier: the ones who got away. The presence of the thing alone could steer anyone off from the path of sanity, and to stare at it long enough would surely turn anyone into a thoughtless bag of meat, floundering for causes not even they understand. Once it lays its sights upon someone it will never let up, even if . Whether those hallowed survivors serve as its powerless slave for it or warn others by etching notes—notes that read worse than the walls of a mental patient's cell—none of them could ever forget.

In its unknowable way of thinking no karmic judgment exists. Do not live your life one way or the other expecting to be entirely avoidant of the thing because you are just as likely to be chosen as the worst men and women in the world. Instead, hope and pray that after reading this you forget about it, because that's the most you can do."
