In this video I document the process of my clownfish laying eggs. They first start by cleaning the area of the tank they always lay at. The female will begin to lay eggs and the male will follow behind her and fertilize the eggs. Once they are done the male will hang around very close to the eggs and protect them. He will protect them from anything ane everything that comes close to the eggs until they hatch. The female will hang around a small distance away.
The lineage of my clownfish pair is Nebula Percula x Doni Snowcasso. They are approximately 7 years old. The layed their first clutch March of 2024. The eggs typically hatch around day 10-12.They havent quite got on a predictable laying schedule yet. I also havent had mush luck yet catching the fry since they refuse to lay on a tile or flower pot. Ive tried the Vossen Larval trap a few times but have not caught any yet.
I feed them LRS Reef Frenzy and PE Misys daily. I culture my own Isochrysis galbana and tetraselmis chui Phytoplankton that I dose to the tank to keep the pod population up. There is no specific amount I dose. I just pour about 8-16oz in about twice a week. From time to time I will add a couple of drops of Selcon in the food mix as well.
