At the northeastern tip of the country, where tides crash on towering cliffs and weather is a wilderness unto itself, there stands a beacon for the communities of Maine’s Bold Coast. First constructed in 1808 following 9 shipwrecks, West Quoddy Head Lighthouse is a crucial piece of Maine’s maritime history and a monument that continues to brings fishermen and seafarers to safe harbor to this day. A landmark as practical as it is inspiring, to truly understand the importance such a place, it’s best to listen to those who call it home.
