What Is Happening to Kashmiris Outside Kashmir?
Serious concerns are being raised over the repeated targeting of Kashmiris working outside Jammu and Kashmir. Reports indicate that Kashmiri drivers, labourers, and small vendors—especially shawl sellers—are facing harassment, threats, and violence in different parts of the country.
Local sources allege that Kashmiri shawl sellers are being repeatedly targeted, abused, and forcibly pushed out of marketplaces. Many claim they are not allowed to work, are threatened, and in some cases are beaten and forced to leave without any fault of their own.
These are poor, hardworking people who travel far from their homes only to earn an honest livelihood. Yet, their voices remain unheard. The question being asked is: Why is no one listening to their cries? Why is such oppression being allowed to continue?
Such incidents not only violate basic human rights but also damage the social harmony and unity of the nation. No citizen should be denied work or dignity because of their identity.
There is an urgent need for authorities to intervene, ensure safety, and hold those responsible accountable. Silence in the face of injustice only strengthens cruelty.
