It sounds like a stupid question: We inhale when the CO2 level rises, so why should a higher percentage of oxygen affect our breathing?
But there are some quite recent studies that suggest that at least when diving becomes exercise and not just floating around, gas consumption may be lower with a higher pO2.
This is a still open question, but maybe one which is interesting to follow.
